The “Edgerunners 2” update for Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. This update introduces new content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, an animated series currently streaming on Netflix. Version 2.5 also adds side quests, cosmetic items, cyberware customization, mod support, and more.
Developer CD Projekt Red announced the new update this week to celebrate the release of Edgerunners 2 on Netflix. Produced in collaboration between Japanese animation studio Trigger and CDPR, the series is set within the Cyberpunk universe. The version 2.5 update is free for all Cyberpunk 2077 players and is currently rolling out across PC and console platforms.
Edgerunners 2 Update Features
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 update includes content based on the animated series, such as a brand-new side quest titled “Clampdown,” which takes place prior to the events of the show. Completing this quest rewards players with a five-piece gear set modeled after the series’ characters. Additionally, version 2.5 introduces a new in-game radio station for Cyberpunk 2077 that exclusively features tracks from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
As part of this update, Cyberpunk 2077 introduces a wealth of new cosmetic options and gameplay features. These include five new outfits available for purchase from vendors across Night City, fresh vehicle skins, and new hairstyles for the protagonist, V.
Perhaps the most notable new gameplay mechanic is the “Double Trouble” skill tree perk, which allows players to dual-wield pistols and revolvers. Additionally, players can now customize their cybernetic hands with new skins, available at five brand-new “Glamdoc” shops.
Most significantly, the “Edgerunners 2” update brings cross-platform mod support to Cyberpunk 2077. Powered by mod.io, a new in-game mod menu allows players to browse and install a variety of community-created mods directly within the game.
The 2.5 update also adds a new side quest that unlocks guided tours of Night City. Furthermore, a collection of Tarot cards has been introduced as part of another side quest.
Cyberpunk 2077 has also received technical enhancements with the “Edgerunners 2” update. The game now supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, featuring up to 6x frame generation or dynamic frame generation. The update also brings performance improvements for ray tracing and the PS5 Pro.
Finally, the 2.5 update includes a range of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. The full list of changes can be found in the official patch notes released by CD Projekt Red.
